Kite Flying at Jells Park Again

We went kite flying at Jells Park again yesterday.  This time everyone was there except for Melissa.  As usual, she was late and drove herself to join us, but lost her way; and we didn’t have a lot of time, so we told her to go straight to the New Royal Garden restaurant to meet [...]

A Visit from Godfamily

Yesterday night, we had dinner together with my godparents and godsister. My godsister has been living in Australia for 30 years and is married to a local politician and they have 2 kids, the elder about the same age as Melissa. I had met my godsister only once since we moved to Melbourne. Last evening’s [...]

Who moved my cheese?

It’s interesting that since my Dad arrived, we have been to two places in Victoria that we had heard about, but had not yet gotten around to visit.  His visit was the catalyst we needed to get out of our routine and do something different.  I guess life can become routine, and we need to [...]

Tulip Festival

On Thursday, we took Dad to visit the Tulip festival at the Dandenong Ranges.  It was quite interesting and very colourful.  We also decided to indulge ourselves on the Dutch pancake called Poffertjes, and on Timboon Fine Ice cream.  Both were delicious!  There was also an old fashioned horse buggy, and we took it for [...]

Arthurs Seat

Today, we brought Dad to Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula (or Peninshoola as my daughter says that’s the way the Aussies pronounce it.  They also say capshool.  We in Singapore mostly use the hard s in the pronunciation of such words.  But I digress.)  Our two older kids didn’t come as they were attending extra [...]

Dad Arrives

My Dad arrived in Melbourne from Singapore this morning, touching down at Melbourne airport at 4.45am.  He had some breakfast and I picked him up at around 7.20am.  He had a smooth flight and baby warmed up to him pretty quickly once we arrived home.  He’s here for about a week, mainly to see baby.  [...]

Chinese Association of Victoria Open Day

Our neighbours, George and Yun, have been living in Australia for more than 20 years.  They are a very nice couple, and have been very ‘neighbourly’ towards us.  Recently, they invited us to attend the Chinese Association of Victoria’s Open Day.  The open day was today, and since it was nearby, we decided to attend.  [...]

Spiderman 3

Did you ever have one of those days where you felt you had to write something but just didn’t have anything to write about?  Well, today is one of those days for me.  So… here’s a bit of trivial information.  I watched Spiderman 3 on DVD yesterday.  The kids had a church sleepover on Friday [...]

Horrifying Report

I found this news article rather horrifying.  I guess mainly because I have a daughter around the same age, and I cannot imagine the psychological impact on her if she became a mother at this age.  The man was totally irresponsible and didn’t think of the consequences of his act; and he wasn’t even a [...]
