Arthurs Seat

Written By: Tuen - Sep• 25•07

Today, we brought Dad to Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula (or Peninshoola as my daughter says that’s the way the Aussies pronounce it.  They also say capshool.  We in Singapore mostly use the hard s in the pronunciation of such words.  But I digress.)  Our two older kids didn’t come as they were attending extra classes in preparation for their coming VCEs.

The drive there took about an hour, and we found the place quite pleasant.  The chair lifts were not in operation; possibly because of safety concerns, so we couldn’t try those.  Instead, we walked around the gardens and enjoyed the grand view of Port Philip Bay.  After that, we drove further on to Rosebud, where we had a friend who runs a fish and chips takeaway.  The kids though, wanted McDonald’s (or Mackers – another Aussie idiosyncratic pronunciation), so we dropped them off whilst Dad, Mary, baby and myself went to Albert’s shop to partake of fish and chips and The Lot burger.  We had a nice time catching up and then drove home.
