Pale, and healthy?

Written By: Tuen - Oct• 21•07

Today is the first day since late autumn that I’ve dressed in short sleeves.  The maximum temperature forecast for today is 31 degrees Celsius.  That’s going to be pretty hot.

I was standing in front of the mirror combing my hair and noticed that my arms were very pale.  That must be the result of spending half the year or more in long sleeves and pants.  I was a little disconcerted because back in Singapore, where the climate is always hot and muggy, and we try to be in shorts and short sleeved Ts as often as possible, such a fair or pale complexion is often equated with being weak and sickly.  So I couldn’t help feeling a little embarrassed by my pale looking arms because I thought it made me look unhealthy.  I wonder if only Singaporeans or people from that sort of climate would feel this way about fair skin.

Well, I shall start wearing shorts and Ts and get out into the sun more often, now that the weather is getting warmer.

Oh, I also dressed baby in shorts and T-shirt today, and he looks really cute!
