Reckless Endangerment

Written By: Tuen - Oct• 13•07

Here’s an incredible turn of events.  I was awoken this morning around 5am by the sound of a vacuum cleaner.  Immediately, I thought my neighbour had gone crazy.  Then a little later, Mary woke up too and saw that the landing light outside our bedroom was on.  So we went to investigate.  It was my sis vacuuming the bathroom floor.  Some */&^%$!! had thrown a budweiser beer bottle through our bathroom window, making a jagged hole in the centre of the window.  The beer bottle had also bounced off the bathroom door, leaving a big indentation on the door as well.  And you know what?  The beer bottle was not even broken.  It was an unopened bottle still full of beer.  What a way to deliver alcohol!

Thankfully, because of some remnant of decency in the culprit, or because of bad aim or sheer luck, the beer bottle went through the bathroom window instead of the bedroom window, where little baby was sleeping with my sister.

On closer inspection, we found that the culprit had also thrown an orange at the bedroom window, which thankfully did not shatter.

Needless to say, we’ve made a police report, but I doubt they will come around to match fingerprints from the bottle.  We’ll see.

Oh dear. I’m just glad that nobody was in the bathroom then because I’m sure serious injury could have resulted.

Btw, Gern, what did you do with the botle of unopened bear No point wasting it. :)

Tuen, time to install a wireless webcam with a build-in motion detector/infared red.

Just a follow up. Surprisingly, the police actually called back to request for the beer bottle, and asked me not to touch it and whether I could bring it in for them, since they were swamped with other higher priority incidents. So I brought the bottle down to them and they dusted it for fingerprints. Unfortunately, they couldn’t find any useful prints. So I guess that’s the end of that investigation.
