New Year Activities

Written By: Tuen - Jan• 03•08

On New Year’s eve, the two girls and Ian decided to go into the city to see the fireworks.  I decided to go along, to keep an eye on them and also to experience the celebratory atmosphere.  The kids met up with their friend Justin and together, we went to Federation Square.  I must say it was quite an experience for me.  It’s been many many years since I immersed myself in something like a fireworks display, with huge crowds cheering and generally letting their hair down.  The roads in front of Flinders Street station were jam packed with people and the fireworks display was pretty impressive.

We decided to leave immediately after the fireworks, and had to rush to get onto the 12.30am train, because the next train was scheduled for 2.15am!  No way was I staying that long in the city.  We managed to get onto the train, but it was packed like sardines.  Not to mention that it was about 30 degrees Celsius even at midnight.  But all ended well and we got home safely and now I can say I know what a Melbournian New Year’s eve celebration in the city is like!  :)

New Year’s day, we had the Chongs, Chias and Lopezs over for dinner.  It was pretty nice and I think everyone had a good time.

It was strange to read that you had the Lopezs over. I think I know who you’re referring to (am I correct to say it’s Gerard and Marie) but for a moment there, my heart skipped a beat…. :)

Yes, it was your brother-in-law and family. :)
