Citizenship Applications for the rest

Written By: Tuen - Mar• 19•08

Yesterday morning, our certificates of no conviction finally arrived from the Singapore Police force.  Mary and I needed these certificates before we could complete our applications for citizenship.  And since the 4 younger kids were riding on my application, they were also dependent on these 2 pieces of paper.  The reason they are needed is that we are considered to be PRs from the time of our first entry into Australia.  And since we returned back to Singapore for another two years before we made our permanent move here, the bureaucracy considers it as we had spent two years in a foreign country after becoming PRs in Australia – hence the need for the police certs.

Anyway, the moment I received the certs and had made copies, I biked down to the citizenship office and submitted them.  We now await the approval and citizenship ceremony.
