Birthdays just Passed

Ming had his birthday on 11th May. We had the usual quiet cake cutting ceremony at home. Jie had his on 19th April, and Wen had hers on 26th Feb.

My eldest child turned 21 on March 5th. My parents flew in specially to celebrate this occassion with us and her friends. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of her grandfather, we had a nice celebration at Shine cafe. Melissa chose “Hollywood” as her theme. We had a nice dinner interspersed with the usual speeches from myself and my father, followed by cake cutting and then the obligatory dance party, which lasted till about 1 am. Jie was the MC and did a pretty good job I felt.

I can’t believe it’s been 21 years since I held my baby girl in my arms for the very first time. Time flies and we are all getting on in years; but it’s been a most satisfying life journey for me so far…

We had two events on 14th of February. Apart from being Valentine’s day, it was also Ian’s birthday and the 1st day of Chinese New Year.

We celebrated Ian’s birthday lunch at Paesano, an Italian restaurant. It was his 18th birthday and he had a few days earlier celebrated it with his friends. Today was a celebration with the family. He was pretty excited to turn 18, as it meant he could booze, get his driver’s license, as well as go to the casino; all 3 of which he duly did within a couple of weeks of his birthday!

In the evening, we celebrated Chinese New Year at the Chongs, together with Joanne’s parents and the Pehs. It was a nice cosy celebration and quite enjoyable.

Yesterday was my mum’s birthday, and my dad asked us to go out and have dinner on him, to celebrate. So we went to Sakata for some Japanese food. Melissa’s friend, Kai, came along as well, because they were going to go out clubbing with friends after that.

Anyway, we decided to record a video birthday wish for my mum, and here it is:

Mary’s Birthday

We celebrated Mary’s birthday recently. Her actual day was on a Tuesday, but because Ian had tuition, we only cut the cake that evening. The dinner celebration was postponed to the following Saturday evening, where we went to Oggy for some Italian food. The food was quite ok and the place decent.

I celebrated my 47th birthday recently. We had a nice dinner at Sakata again. After a certain age, one doesn’t quite look forward to birthdays anymore. In fact, I find I have trouble trying to remember exactly how old I am…

Baby Turns 4

It’s hard to believe that our little bundle of joy, which came unexpected and unplanned, is now 4 years old and has become so much a part of our lives that it’s hard to imagine what life would be like without him.

We had two celebrations for him. One was on the Sunday before, where we asked the Chongs and the Chias to come over for a meal, and to cut his birthday cake. The second celebration was for baby to invite some of his pre-school friends to come over to play and celebrate his birthday with him. In the end only two of them could make it, and they came with their mums. Ren enjoyed both parties very much.

Recent Birthdays

We celebrated Jie and Ming’s birthdays recently. As usual, we cut the cake at home, but had a meal outside. Jie’s lunch was at Paesano and Ming’s was combined with Mother’s day, so we went to a more classy restaurant called Le Gaulois.

Melissa’s Birthday

Melissa celebrated her 20th Birthday last Thursday. As usual, since it was a weekday, we just had a simple cake-cutting ceremony. We went for a more lavish dinner on Sunday night, where we had crab-noodles. My first born is all grown up now!

Ian’s and Wen’s Birthday

Ian celebrated his birthday on 14th Feb with a little party he threw at home. Being Valentine’s day, I made the joke that all his friends who attended this party were losers… :)

As usual, they ended up playing Texas’ Holdem.

We celebrated Wen’s birthday last Thursday with simple cake cutting at home. On the following Saturday though, we went out for a nice dinner at Sakata Japanese restaurant.
