Dinner with Jobina

Posted by Tuen on 4th December 2009 in Diary, Family

Last week, we had dinner with Jobina and two of her kids. Jobina and Lawrence and family were part of our kids’ home catechism group back in Singapore. We had seen Jobina only briefly in church when we were back in Singapore at the beginning of this year; otherwise we had not seen their family since our arrival in Melbourne.

It was lovely to see them again and to see how Joey and Joel have grown. We went to a restaurant in the city called Little King Eatery. The food wasn’t bad at all. We caught up with old times and made arrangements to meet up in Singapore at the end of the year.  Jobina and kids have since returned to Singapore.

Parents leave Melbourne

Posted by Tuen on 14th May 2009 in Diary, Family

My parents left Melbourne for Sydney on 17th April. They were heading to Sydney for their grand nephew’s wedding.

On Thursday night, the evening before they left, we had a very nice dinner at Sakata Japanese restaurant. The teppanyaki chef was throwing food all over the place!

New Year’s Eve

Posted by Tuen on 2nd January 2009 in Diary, Family

Jie and I went out with the Chongs and Chias for New Year’s eve dinner and to catch the fireworks.  Kathleen came along as well.  We had dinner in China Town at a restaurant called Kun Ming. Unfortunately, we finished dinner a little too late to catch the 9.15pm fireworks.  After dinner we strolled down to Docklands to catch the sights and atmosphere and to wait for the countdown. The Chongs left early, and soon after, we all decided to leave as well, as the wait was a bit too long and the kids were getting bored.  In the end, we greeted the New Year on the train on the way back.

It was still a fun night out though.

Last Friday on 2nd May, we celebrated our 20th Wedding anniversary.  It was made special with the presence of relatives and close friends from Australia and the Lims from New Zealand (more on their visit in a later post).

We started the celebration off with mass at our home, presided over by Fr. Patrick Jackson SAC (he was late!) where Mary and I renewed our wedding vows.  Our kids then sang us a song, and after that, all of us adjourned to Han Palace for dinner.

It was a very nice celebration, and Mary and I enjoyed the company of our close friends.  Some of the sharings at mass, given by Melissa and Alphonsus, were very touching.

The full photoset can be found here, and the mass leaflet is here: justin-and-mary.pdf
